Crafted by leading Latin music independent label Nacional Records, the lovingly crafted project, Look At My Soul: The Latin Shade of Texas Soul finds Grammy-winning Texas producer Adrian Quesada from the Black Pumas returning us deep inside the heart of a unique multicultural fusion with the assistance of many original musicians that gave birth to the distinctive regional sound, along with a new generation of Texas musicians that they inspired. Featured artists include Kam Franklin of the Suffers, David Hidalgo and Steve Berlin from Los Lobos, classic Mexican singers Johnny Hernandez, Ruben Ramos, Jonny Benavidez of Timmion Records and Aaron Frazer of Durand Jones and the Indications. The songs themselves are recorded onto analog tape, with a few of them done entirely live in the studio – a true component to the Latin Soul sound which embraced imperfection in exchange for energy on recordings.
