It is his deft writing of nearly all the songs on the album that makes the album. Most of the songs are about romance, won or lost. One is a song dedicated to his first child. The instrumentation shows Ponce's varying influences, from the East Indian nuances on "Vuelve a Mí" to the retro-70's flavor of "Sigues Conmigo." or the slightly country-western twang of "Si Te Vas." The true jewel of the album is "Escúchame" . The range of styles and the engaging writing combine for a terrific album. It should be the first album purchased by newcomers of true Latin artists.
