Tejano music legend Sunny Ozuna has released a new album titled “La Estrella Que Brilla” (The Star That Shines). In a recent interview with the QVo Tejano Podcast, Ozuna shared the inspiration behind the album and its title track.

“It’s called ‘La Estrella Que Brilla’, which means the star that shines. And me and Freddie Martinez, as a matter of fact, from Freddie Records, we wrote the song. It’s a beautiful song,” said Ozuna. The song tells a poignant story of a couple’s relationship, their shared experiences, and the star that witnessed their love.

“You have to hear the words, because the ideas behind it, it’s just, it’s something very interesting and unusual,” Ozuna explained. “The only thing that you have to remember, no matter how you feel about what happened to us, is that we did share each other. And the only proof I have that it ever happened is that little star that was there, that was watching us that night, La Estrella Que Brilla. That little star is witness of what really happened.”

Ozuna fell in love with the title itself, finding it fitting for the photograph that adorns the new CD. “We kind of got a little star that kind of shines off on the picture that kind of La Estrella,” he said.

The album has been well-received since its release a few weeks ago. Fans can purchase “La Estrella Que Brilla.”

In addition to the album release, Ozuna will be part of the 55th-anniversary celebration of Freddie Records at the Vegas Tejano Takeover next month. He will be performing alongside Freddie Martinez, Carlos Guzman, and Augustine Ramirez.
